“Way Back Into Love” by Haley Bennett and Hugh Grant | Every radio station, at least on this side of the world, insists on playing the version of “Way Back Into Love” from that scene in Music and Lyrics where Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore record their first demo together. But the finished version, also on the film, the one with Hugh and Haley Bennett, obviously sounds better, not because it’s more recorded for humans (get the reference!) but because it has a proper conclusion, and a proper climax, and a proper anthemic feel. I heard the demo version on the radio last week and found myself singing the missing parts, which is odd because I have never seen the film. (Yesterday morning, however, I heard this version on Easy Rock, which is much appreciated.) I never really was a cheesy person, at least until today, because I am dedicating this post to my girlfriend, who I, well, never expected to be here at all, but, as it turns out, is the one person I’ve been waiting for all these 24 years I’ve been here. Hun, I’ll text you the rest. As for the rest of you, the cheese ends here.
I did not expect this post. At. All.
