Review: Home Again by Michael Kiwanuka

Home Again

The comparisons to Bill Withers are very apt in Home Again, the London singer-songwriter’s debut. It’s soft, it’s a bit rough on the edges, and it’s absolutely uplifting. It’s not just the first single “I’m Getting Ready”: the album starts on a high note, and surprisingly keeps up despite slowing down the tempo. It’s the sincerity in Michael’s voice that keeps you coming back. Oddly perfect for summer, or at least for those Sundays when you don’t feel like doing anything. (And no, no Bruno Mars mention here.) | 4/5
