“Change” by Churchill | My radio listening has shifted to the American triple-A’s again – in this case, to KINK in Portland – and during one of my weekend morning walks this came on. I always mistook this song for a Sheryl Crow one, at least at the beginning, because Bethany Kelly’s yelp just sounds so familiar and comforting yet fresh. Cue me going “ah, so that’s what the song is called, and they’re the ones who sang it!” That same morning I read that the band – who’ve only released one full-length album and three EPs, among which is this year’s The War Within – have just split up. Suddenly. And cancelled all live appearances. So much for being so enthusiastic. [NB]
