“Come on, baby, stand by me.”

“Love Me All Night” by Millar Jukes and the Bandits | Yet more proof that I have somehow become attractive to Aussie artists: another Aussie sending me an email, plugging his wares. Millar Jukes, however, isn’t exactly an Aussie: while he’s making music from Melbourne at the moment, he’s Scottish, and his bio says he first picked up a guitar in Thailand. And his music is Americana infused with a jumpiness that you don’t get from someone who is from America. Not that I’m taking them down or anything, but sometimes a more considered worldview gets you interesting results, eh? Later this week he and his band are releasing this song, “Love Me All Night”, a rollicking stomper reminiscent of, well, barn dances in the 60s, with a swagger reserved for pubs, and a joie de vivre that’s available everywhere else. An interesting first release, I say. [NB] (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)
