“…so all you come home to is this side of paradise.”

“Code of Kin” by Reese Lansangan | Rainy’s written about Reese Lansangan before, and now she’s written up another new song, and now it’s up to me to write about it. Oh boy, I hope I’m in a good mood today. And today, well, I am. She originally wrote this song for her mother, but now it’s for her sister’s 18th birthday. “Hope she doesn’t mind sloppy seconds,” she quips. It doesn’t sound like that, actually. I mean, I could find places where the motherly references were replaced with sisterly ones, but this says something about the universal values of family and sisterhood and… yeah, I’m overthinking this. This is sweet without being saccharine, and I like its genuine feel. [NB]
