“War Baby” by Big Wreck | I’ve written about the original version of this song over a year ago, and a couple of weeks ago I heard this version – played on the radio show of the guy who wrote and sang this song. Must be a bit weird. But not to worry – this is perhaps my favorite Tom Robinson song ever, and this cover from American-slash-Canadian band Big Wreck gives it a nice, atmospheric spin. I mean, it lingers over you like a dark cloud. I did say before that “War Baby” is a song about whatever you want it to be: the original was boozy, and this one is brooding. Two different meanings right there. See? [NB]
