“Mahal na mahal ko ang birdie ko, pati mga itlog nito.”

Great Philippine Song Hits“Please Don’t Touch My Birdie” by Parokya ni Edgar | Of course, the obviously joke-y Filipino song wasn’t the sole domain of actors-turned-singers. Alternative acts also got in on the act, easily playing with the things that happen when friends gather for beers on the roadside. (There’s only one explanation for this slightly gross Giniling Festival song.) Parokya ni Edgar was early in the game: after forming in 1993 and making a name for themselves at Club Dredd, they released albums that are a mix of earnest love songs… and songs like this, also filled with innuendo, but at least compared to Bayani Agbayani yesterday, goes down much better with everyone. And it certainly hasn’t been a bad thing for PNE, who are stil going strong and are now seen as luminaries of the Philippine alternative scene. And they can still get away with songs like this[NB]
