Review: Honeymoon by Lana Del Rey

Honeymoon by Lana Del ReyIt’s rare – nay, it perhaps hasn’t happened before in my three and a half years of doing this – that I have made up my mind on what an album is just halfway through the first track. But, after hearing the opening strains of “Honeymoon” – the swelling, slightly minimal, slightly grim opener to Lana Del Rey’s third record, also named Honeymoon – I can say this: same old, same old. You can argue she does this mysteriously brooding sound well, but frankly, I’m tired of her shtick. [NB]1/5
