“Don’t ever say we didn’t make it far.”

“Wall Confession” by Anti-Violet | This was sitting on my inbox for a few weeks, although since the record won’t be out until later this month, I can say with confidence that I am not late this time. (It’s an achievement. I know. But then again, this is a hobby. Anyway.) Anti-Violet is a three-piece from Melbourne, led by vocalist Ashlin Johnson (who sent me the email), and they’re releasing a new double EP (it’s not an EP, not yet an album?), Janus-Faced, on 26 November. Now, you all probably know I’m not exactly into the louder side of alternative, and it took me a while to warm up to this record, but I like the little touches of mess peppered throughout. Must be the whole “man fighting for his insanity” angle the record is aiming for. It’s loud, but it’s not completely polished, and that’s what gives it its charm. Yep, I used “charm” to describe a rock record. And now, to promote a gig that is happening in a city I’ve never been in: the launch will be at the Bendigo Hotel, and there’s an AUD 10 entry. [NB] (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)
