“I know how sweet life can be if I keep myself free of…”

“Wah-Wah” by George Harrison | I’ve been planning to write about this song for months now. Of course, this would appeal to me: the jubilant sound, aided by the wall of sound production, that sounds good whether recorded or live (although people will say the live version is better). Somehow, however, this kept being bumped off, but today, I’m posting it. Perhaps I found the space. Or, well, a reason. George wrote this song in the immediate aftermath of the split of the Beatles: “Wah-Wah” – from his debut solo record, All Things Must Pass, released 45 years ago – was a statement, more or less, about the events leading up to the split, and the liberation he’s felt since. So, well, I dedicate this to a friend who posts a lot of George Harrison songs on Twitter. It’s time to go home. Well, not yet. In a few days. [NB]
