“You’re leaving me, but it makes me kind of glad.”

“We’ll Meet Again Someday, Or We Won’t” by Bill Baird | I thought Steve Lamacq was adlibbing, a bit, when he announced the title of this song. Turns out the song is, indeed, called “We’ll Meet Again Someday, Or We Won’t”. That little kicker got me. I don’t know if Bill Baird named this song with the thinking that radio DJs will have a bit of fun with it (say, “and that was ‘Pedestrian At Best’ by Courtney Barnett“) but that certainly caught my attention. It’s a bit of a shrug, that, initially hiding what turns out to be a song for saying goodbye. A shrug, more or less. Yes, go; fine, go. Bill Baird does a lot of things (more than the number of Bills on his website‘s URL) but amidst all that he managed to eke out an album, Earth into Aether, which was released just a couple of weeks back. Judging from this song, it looks interesting, indeed. [NB]
