「それでもまた戦うんだろう。」

“Sakura Drops” by Utada Hikaru | Well, well. Look what I found again. It’s been over a decade since I last heard this song, and not because I had a Japanese pop phase. I haven’t. I haven’t yet? Anyway, this song got stuck in my head back in my second year in high school. My friend Robyn – she got me into blogging in the first place – was a fan of Utada Hikaru, a big name in Japanese pop if you haven’t any idea. She played her 2002 album Deep River loud on most days. This being that album’s opening track, I learned to expect this instinctively, and it got stuck in my head, too. And then I never heard it for a very long time, until last Saturday, when Shalla and I had a lunch date (early Valentine’s, more or less) at Tokyo Tonteki at Greenbelt 5. Good food – and kudos to them for keeping up with the atmosphere by playing exclusively Japanese music. (It’s a surprise how many Korean restaurants miss this trick.) I heard this, and it all came flooding back. And then I had to focus on the food, because it’s hard using chopsticks and a knife together. [NB]
