“We’re all broken so that light can come in.”

“Human” by Lánre | Final song on the backlog is from another Brit (via Nigeria), Lánre. She’s not new to the scene: she performed with the British gospel group GKreal, which was founded in 2002, and has since pursued a solo career. Although that will pass too, like all things. The EP has a lot of this: that vocal of hers, a cross between Lianne La Havas and Phox‘s Monica Martin, and some lovely, simple production with hints of her heritage and her gospel roots. It’s a good one, this. You know, maybe we all need this. This political cycle, I mean… [NB] (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)
