“The moment’s calling me now.”

“The Moment” by JC Villafan | The last time we wrote about JC Villafan, he still called himself Villafan. That was a little over a year ago. A lot has happened since, turns out: now he’s just released a full-length record, designed to reflect on his experiences as an immigrant. Perfect timing, it would looks like, considering how the whole “we’ll build a wall and Mexico will pay for it” thing continues to reverberate – the press release I got points out that JC’s mother made that very crossing while pregnant with him. So, America’s for Dreamers, in that context, feels extra poignant. It’s funny how it’s not best shown off on the single “The Moment”, which I have here, but rather, with the album opener, also named “America’s for Dreamers”. You know I like soaring statements of intent. That does it quite well. The album’s now out on iTunes; he’s kicking off a European tour in a few weeks. [NB] (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)
