“Sensualité” by Axelle Red | This one’s in French, and a little newer from yesterday’s post – from 1993. Ask a Belgian about Axelle Red, and you’re likely to get this song: this is her biggest hit, from her debut album Sans plus attendre. One of her co-writers on this song is singer-songwriter Albert Hammond – yes, the father of the guy from the Strokes. It really has that lovely early-90s vibe I get from a bunch of European pop songs – thinking along the lines of Vanessa Paradis’ “Be My Baby” – with its soul and sunshine. I guess it’s why I like listening to, well, those old European pop songs, especially when the time is right. [NB]
