“What goes below, you really don’t wanna know.”

“Sycamore Street” by Thomas Charlie Pedersen | It’s always nice to see emails back from the bands we’ve covered previously, like Vinyl Floor, who we’ve written about twice before. So, now, a third time, but specifically, this is a solo record from the Danish band’s vocalist, Thomas Charlie Pedersen. Second Hand War is a departure from his band’s sweeping aesthetic: here – with the assistance of his brother, Vinyl Floor’s drummer Daniel – he strips down to the bare essentials, something that fits the subject of the songs in this collection – the end of a long-term relationship. I think this suits Thomas’ voice too: the vulnerabilities are up front, and you get the sense that he’s trying to piece everything together. The album drops on 12 September, and having heard it all, I think it’s worth a shot. [NB] (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)
