“We’re all just runaways searching the eyes of the strangers we meet along the way.”

“Runaways” by Gabriel Wolfchild & the Northern Light | One more from the inbox, and cheesy music video aside – it felt like trope after trope – this is a pretty good song. You might remember Gabriel Wolfchild from The Voice‘s eighth season; eliminated in the battle rounds, apparently; I haven’t been watching. He’s since bounced off to release his upcoming debut EP, Mornings Like These, with a definite Seattle vibe: that conflict between warm (as is typical of the Northwest’s singer-songwriter scene) and cool (I mean, the rain, come on). Even if he reminds me a bit of Marcus Mumford, “Runaways” feels very much like a warm embrace at the end of a bad day. It can never be a bad thing in my book. [NB] (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)
