Review: Woman by Justice

Woman by JusticeNot that I expect Justice to be revolutionary or anything – not after every new record, no – but I will have to admit that Woman is disappointing. I don’t like how it just plods along, content with what they do before. Well, that wouldn’t be a problem if not for the album sounding completely lost. With Audio, Video, Disco, their last record, they seem to have chanced upon – and seized upon – that cross-section between kitschy 70s electro-disco and that same decade’s arena rock. Here they continue the formula, but somewhere along the way it seems they have just given up and churned out a bunch of tracks. The beginning was at least promising – “Safe and Sound” is as good an intro song from Justice as any – but the rest of the album fails to live up to the hype it sets up for itself. What happened? I’m not sure. Maybe they aren’t, too. [NB]2/5
