“It’ll drag me out of bed and leave me alone in the deepest part of the woods.”

“Sometimes” by Bars of Gold | I’m writing this feeling a bit too sleepy for comfort. I’ll guess I haven’t had enough sleep from before I left for Cebu up until now. I don’t know. I’ve had an urge to catch up with work on a Sunday, which isn’t fun, they say, but at least I finished an infographic that’s eluded me for a week. (When you’re editor, you dictate your timeline.) So, on to the inbox, and to a band from Detriot called Bars of Gold. Post-rock, the press release says, but clearly I know little, because the opening salvo just falls on you and, well, that’s it. You’re taken, and you’ve got no way out. It’s a nice jolt, and, yes, I must confess I am awake. The band – now featuring Bear vs Shark guitarist John Gaviglio – are now suiting up for the release of their new EP Shelters, out 12 April. Way past the cut-off, that.
