“I guess I’ll love you forever. I guess that’s all my fault.”

“Love Me Like You” by Ella Eyre | Yes, Dexter, I did beat you to the punch with Ella Eyre; I did write about her early last month, in the aftermath of her being included in the BBC Sound of 2014 long list. (Actually, just yesterday, she was second on the short list.) So that makes two of us pegging her for big things, then. Also, I thought this was a Magic Numbers cover. That would’ve been interesting, eh? [NB] (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)

“May your love lift you up to a place you belong.”

“Going On” by Ella Eyre | As promised a couple of entries ago, a write-up on Ella Eyre, a 19-year-old with a very powerful voice. Well, not Regine-powerful, but then again, that’s not what we want here. After appearing as a featured artist on a Rudimental hit, she’s now readying her solo material – her Deeper EP comes out in a week’s time, roughly – just as she’s included in the BBC Sound of 2014 long list. And yes, wow, what a voice. Bluesy and husky and yet, it just soars. Ella’s another Brit School alumni – Adele and Amy Winehouse came from there – so, yes, you can see the thread coming, down to the similarly distinctive hairstyle. But pointing that out makes me sound cynical, yes? [NB]
