“When I think of you, I don’t feel so alone.”

“Vanilla Twilight” by Owl City | Adrian sent this song to me a long time ago, but I saved it for today because… I don’t like Owl City. In fact, I despise Owl City. Granted, I’m one of those snobs who heard “Fireflies” and thought that it’s obviously a Postal Service rip-off and decided that Adam Young is not worth my attention. I remember when I still worked for BuddyTV, when I had a conversation with my colleague Abbey, co-founder of the Seattle music blog Sound on the Sound. (We covered American Idol together. She did well trying to bring indie cred to our coverage. I just fawned over Allison Iraheta, although it wasn’t her season. Anyway.) We both agreed about the Postal Service thing, and she sent me this link to a guest post on her blog, which essentially ripped Owl City up… but ended up being so crass it’s uncomfortable. My last encounter with Owl City is when iTunes Radio insists on playing him despite me tuned in to their alternative station, which, frankly, is still an insult after all these years. But yeah, maybe it’s a good listen at night, as Adrian put it. I’ll be a rotting corpse before you catch me listening to this guy, though. And then I find out he’s responsible for my phone’s message tone. Gaaaaah. [NB] (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)
