“I use my pretty face to find my way to him.”

“Pretty Face” by Sóley | Another one of those slightly esoteric artists recommended by Rainy: Icelandic singer-songwriter Sóley, who I find because of a conversation we had a couple of weeks ago about my favorite French-Canadian cutie Cœur de Pirate. Surprisingly she hasn’t heard of her, and when I pointed her towards “Golden Baby” – and she expressed a preference towards quirky “Ensemble” – she told me that she shared a vocal style with Sóley, who also plays the piano. Otherwise known as a member of the indie supergroup Seabear, she reminds me a bit of Feist (who’s also part of an indie supergroup). I disagree with the Beatrice connection, but I love how she’s subtle yet hooky at the same time. Or at least this song is. (Have things I should hear? Drop me a line here.)
